falling the day after black friday and the first saturday after thanksgiving, small business saturday began two years ago to celebrate small retail shops and to encourage shoppers to buy from boutique merchants in the United States. there are more than 200 companies and organizations that have joined the local business unit of American Express, OPEN. last year, over 100 million people participated in small business saturday, making shopping small BIG!

the beautiful olya thompson is a beloved flora and henri customer. she and her lovely family recently attended the tatler 2012 debutantes ball at the 19th century column hall of the unions in moscow. we were honored to hear that her daughters wore the flora and henri puff sleeve party dresses to the event. courtesy of vogue russia are photos of the girls dancing to spivakov’s orchestra, in addition to a handsome photo of olya and her family. for more of the gorgeous ball click here.
we love it when friends of flora and henri come to visit. we especially love it when these friends bring their children! here is a recent visit from, rowan: sporting the heavy twill pea coat from fall/winter 2006 and the oro low top from spring/summer 2011.
rowan charmed us all when he pretended to be a cubebot. then he made us laugh when he posed with funny faces in front of kiki’s photo, from kiki & coco in paris. before he left for a sweet treat next door at molly moons he retold the plot of indiana jones!
